Quote from DevilDare :The whole reason I am trying to compress the raw LFS clips, is because if I dont, and only chnage the Frame rate to 40 (Like it says in the tut), the damn video weighs 2.5GB.....

wouldn't it help to deal with the uncompressed files and then only compress the finished movie? that's how I do it.. sometimes I got a 4GB movie in the end but then I just compress it as one long clip.

Quote from logitekg25 :avs video editor is great imo, but i need to make a brief pause in my movie so i can sync it right, so how do i put blackness for a second or two

a not so professional method would be to just put a random clip, mute the sound and take down the saturation and brightness with a filter, until it's black

Quote from DevilDare :Just quick question.

Regarding the recording at 10fps and then using DUB.

Is there any way to compress the .avi file size that comes out of Virtual DUB?

2.5GB is quite a lot for a quick clip.

video -> compression .. and then I'd pick xvid or divx if you got any of those installed... there you can set things like bitrate or target size or whatever, just play around with the settings and check if the quality and file size of the rendered video is fine

edit: I'd also compress the sound.. I'm using lame codec (which you probably need to install first) at 128 kb/s

good action in there! I would have used less FOV but that's the only thing that comes to my mind right now

any chance to get a download link?

Quote from Funnybear :'Pearcy Pass' must be going into the LFS hall of Fame as the most used replay of all time.

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :karolis's has been used twice also so ner :P

damn I thought each of the three replays from external sources had been used only once, and then in a show-off-like clip instead of a complete movie .. I didn't plan to show over-used scenes and risk to bore some people ... also I wondered if I should put them in at all, but then preferred that to showing random scenes that only fill the time.

Quote from pik_d :Distance only matters if the car is in front of you. If it's behind you it could be 2m it still wont draw it.

oh okay, nice to know... sounds like your suggestion could solve the problem then, great

thanks again for all the feedback!

Quote from pik_d :One small tip though, in Options -> Misc turn off "Multiplayer speedup option" when recording. I saw a few MRT5s pop in and I *think* that was caused by the MP speedup option which doesn't draw cars until they're almost completely on screen.

thanks for the tip! I'll try it next time! though I'm not sure if it will help: I had alrerady set the 'Multiplayer car draw' to 240m - and the mrt wasn't that far away

it often happens that I need to record scenes again due to annoying cars suddenly popping up... for the mrt I must say, I just noticed it too late and was too lazy to edit the whole movie again

thanks for the feedback! .. and wow, you guys are quick with the comments, today

Quote from CrAZySkyPimp :But some of the replays must've been quite old as I saw some of my really old CD skins in there.

yep I didn't race lately, most replays are from summer 09, some are even older. just checked my last online race info, it's from 3rd of october .. so after that I didn't save any replays

very nice job for you first one, quite good camera work and a variation of views already, I think. loved the first half of the song, the second one sounded a bit monotoneous to me

(sorry for the bump, I forgot to comment 'back then' )

I'm not a fan of the strange voice, but other than that: really good job! waiting for more videos, keep it coming

I do enjoy it .. especially after it I feel so relaxed, no matter how stressed or angry I felt just before I started. I also try to vary with the routes, usually running between 3.5 and 10 km .. sometimes slow, sometimes trying to beat my "pb".

no seriously, nice job there, well chosen scenes and music for my taste, I enjoyed watching this. the only thing I don't like is that south city texture mod.. but so what, that's secondary

Quote from logitekg25 :so what should i do? just not use that clip and try a few others?

EDIT: nope...none of them work

EDIT2: by the way, yes i just started making the movie, it thats why it took me so long to come up with this problem , and it will suck probably

sounds like the framerate difference isn't the problem then.. mmh maybe you can try out another software instead of virtualdub. there's a program called Avidemux, it's quite similiar and freeware as well..

and about your thought that your movie "will probably suck": it's not unlikely that the first movie gets a lot of criticism - but if you make use of it, you can improve quite quickly. and even if you don't get lots of views and positive feedback, the movie can still mean something to you. for example, I still watch my first movie sometimes, nowadays.. although I know it is not that great and special. so don't give up :P

Quote from logitekg25 :but i do think one of the videos i was using i shortened with v-dub, and saved it with v-dub. would that cause it

yea that is possible.. vdub seems to save it with a slightly different framerate than you tell it to.. and then it won't combine clips because the framerate differs.

did you change any fraps or lfs settings between recording the clips? I think a slightly different frame rate, resolution or colour depth makes virtualdub refuse to combine the clips. for example, once I opened a clip in virtualdub, and tweaked the framerate so it would match with the other clips I had recorded, but then vdub saved it with a framerate of 29.999231 or something and I couldn't combine it with any of the other 30 fps clips.

not sure if you got what I'm talking about, but try not to change settings between recording the single clips, use the raw frapsed files (don't render and save them individually first BUT put them all into virtualdub - as you said, "append avi segment") and edit it as a whole thing.

good one, I liked it!
simple and short video yet I'm sure the clean camera work, cutting and adding stuff like that shaky effect took you quite some time!

just the right thing to put me in a relaxed mood after an exhausting weekend

Quote from logitekg25 :is there any way to shorten the song, or cut out certain parts? i plan on going with sandstorm by darude because i dont want to buy anything. but the problem is the beginning starts off with only bass, and i have no idea what to do maybe i can do a flashing video when the bass goes off i will have the picture flash to the picture and when it stops i will go to black

also on a random note how do i make lfs record in slow motion?

sorry for being a noob :dopey:

I think slowing down the replay is on F2, going back to regular speed or fast forward is F3..

for cutting songs I use audacity, some simple freeware software. you can also fade in and out there, which can be helpful when cutting. might need to import the lame codec there so you can export your cut files as proper mp3s

hope I could help you out (I'm a bit in a hurry, no time for long essays right now )

quite a risky song I think, but you hit my taste there

I liked the first 1:12 of the video, nice sync with the cuts, colours and fades to black. from then on, where the actual music starts, I'd have used shorter sequences, some more cuts so to say.

well I can't really judge the content (I'm not a drifter), but I enjoyed watching the video (colours, music, length, intro and outro - everything alright... I'm just not a fan of those blinking headlights you used at times ). so all in all: good job, I say!
